{"id":1725,"date":"2020-03-09T16:23:07","date_gmt":"2020-03-09T16:23:07","guid":{"rendered":"\/?post_type=cases&#038;p=1725"},"modified":"2023-09-28T12:06:24","modified_gmt":"2023-09-28T12:06:24","slug":"continuous-filtration-and-dosing-solution-for-hotmelt-adhesives","status":"publish","type":"cases","link":"https:\/\/backupvandev-suurmond.triplehosting.nl\/en\/cases\/continuous-filtration-and-dosing-solution-for-hotmelt-adhesives\/","title":{"rendered":"Continuous filtration &#038; dosing solution for hotmelt adhesive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.beardowadams.com\/\">Beardow Adams<\/a> is a world-leading adhesive manufacturing company and since 1977 they have designed and manufactured adhesives for a large range of industries, supplying more than 10,000 respected companies in over 75 countries.<\/p>\n<h2>Hotmelt adhesive filtration unit with transfer pump<\/h2>\n<p>The production facility in the UK was in need of two high-precision filtration units complete with gear pumps and control systems.<\/p>\n<p>The first unit was designed to transfer 15,000 litres per hour from a mixing vessel to a holding vessel. For this first application we selected the DSC148 single piston screen charger of MAAG Pump Systems AG from Switzerland. This has a 148.3mm screen diameter and oil heating channels within the body. The DSC148 was selected to ensure it has the right level of filtration area at the given flow rate, resulting in an acceptable lifetime.<\/p>\n<p>For the transfer of the adhesive a MAAG Therminox\u00ae 110\/110, oil heated, pump was selected with special bearings and special clearances to achieve the maximum pump efficiency and the correct lubrication.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 488px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/IMG_0104-rotated.jpeg\" alt=\"Discontinuos screen changer and gear pump\" width=\"478\" height=\"478\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>The unit with a MAAG discontinuous single piston screen changer type DSC148 and Therminox\u00ae 110\/110 was designed to transfer 15,000 litres per hour from a mixing vessel to a holding vessel. The gear pump provides a continuous and constant flow resulting in a higher quality of the end product.<\/em><\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 489px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/6180060-MAAG-CSC148-R-screen-changer-with-MAAG-Therminox-gear-pump-for-pulseless-dosing-hotmelt-adhesive-1-rotated.jpeg\" alt=\"Twin piston screen changer for continuous operation\" width=\"479\" height=\"479\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>The twin piston screen changer CSC148-R has a small footprint and can easily be accessed for live filter change for continuous operation.<\/em><\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2>Change filter during production process and accurate dosing<\/h2>\n<p>The second unit was specified to dose 2,000 to 2,500 litres per hour of mixed adhesive from holding vessel to a cooling belt at a constant pressure and flow rate which would be determined by the adhesive formulation.<\/p>\n<p>For this application it was very important to have a continuous and constant flow. A Maag CSC148-R twin piston screen charger with oil heating was selected to allow for filter change without interrupting the production run.<\/p>\n<p>The CSC148-R offers a total filtration surface area of 1,596cm2. Due to the open design of the support frame it allows for easy access for maintenance and equipment cleaning.<\/p>\n<p>The MAAG Therminox\u00ae 56 size pump was selected as a lower flow was required to dose the adhesive to a cooling belt.
